BERG PlayBase climbing frame installed in a garden with nest swing, gym rings and climbing wall

    Installation Tips for Your PlayBase

A BERG PlayBase goes into the ground without concrete. Most of the work is in choosing the right spot, so this guide covers what to plan before the frame arrives.

    How a PlayBase is anchored

The free-standing frames — Medium, Large and Extra Large — sit on two long base sections with plate feet. Channels are dug on either side, the frame is lowered in and levelled, and the channels are filled back in so the base is buried. There is no concrete to mix or cure.

The Wall frame is different. It mounts against a structural wall rather than standing free, so it needs no digging at all.

    Choose the spot first

Every frame is 1m deep and 2.45m high. What changes is the width and the clear space needed around it (our size guide compares them in full):

    • Wall — 2.4m wide, 4m × 3m clear in front of the wall
    • Medium — 2.85m wide, 6m × 4m clear space
    • Large — 3.8m wide, 7m × 5m clear space
    • Extra Large — 4.9m wide, 8.5m × 6m clear space

The clear space is there for the accessories, not the frame. As a guide, allow about 2m for swings, 1.5m for the climbing wall and 3 to 4 metres in front of the basketball hoop.

    What the Wall frame needs

The Wall frame needs a load-bearing structural wall in brick or block — a house wall, a garage or a solid shed. It cannot be fixed to a fence, a timber panel or a hollow partition. If you are not sure about your wall, send us a photo and we will take a look.

    Assembly

The frame arrives boxed. The top section — the monkey-bar rungs, with the lugs that hold the swings and other accessories — is built first, then the uprights and the base sections are bolted on before the frame is set into the ground and levelled.

For the full sequence, watch the PlayBase assembly video and instructions on TrampolinesIreland.com.

    Adding accessories

Swing-type accessories hang from carabiner points on the top of the frame: 3 on the Wall, 4 on the Medium, 6 on the Large and 8 on the Extra Large. Carabiners come as standard with a frame, but not with accessories bought on their own. The climbing wall clamps to the frame, and its clamps are included. Once it is up, see our guide to year-round care.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Does a BERG PlayBase need concrete?

No. The free-standing frames (Medium, Large and Extra Large) sit on two long base sections that are buried in the ground. The Wall frame fixes to a load-bearing brick or block wall instead.

    Do you install PlayBase frames?

We don't assemble PlayBase frames ourselves, but we work with experienced installers across Ireland and can put you in touch with one for your county.

How much space do I need around the frame?

Allow a clear space of 6m × 4m for the Medium, 7m × 5m for the Large and 8.5m × 6m for the Extra Large. The Wall frame needs 4m × 3m clear in front of the wall.
